ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how balance issues, known as vestibular impairments, affect the daily activities of deaf children aged 0 to 2 years. The researchers are looking at three groups: deaf children with balance problems, deaf children without balance problems, and hearing children with normal balance as a comparison. They want to understand how these conditions influence things like personal care, play, and social interactions. Parents will fill out a questionnaire called the OT Hope tool to help assess their children's daily activities, and there will also be interviews with parents to gather more information.
To participate in this study, children must fall into one of the three groups mentioned. Deaf children must have confirmed vestibular issues or not have any balance problems, while hearing children must have normal balance. Unfortunately, children with certain other conditions that affect movement or development cannot take part. The study will take place at the Robert Debré Hospital in Paris and aims to enroll 105 children over three years. The findings from this research will help identify the specific needs of children with vestibular impairments and could lead to better support and interventions for them.
