ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Confirming And Notifying Death," aims to improve how medical students learn to handle the difficult task of notifying families when a patient has passed away. Many young doctors feel unprepared for this responsibility because they receive little training on how to communicate this sensitive news and manage the related paperwork, such as death certificates. The study will explore whether providing specific training to medical students before they encounter these situations can help them feel more confident and capable.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be third-year medical students at the Faculty of Medicine of Strasbourg, France, during the 2023-2024 academic year, and they should be at least 18 years old. They should also have completed a national exam (ECOS) that qualifies them for internships in the following year. Participants can expect to engage in a training program designed to better prepare them for the emotional and practical aspects of notifying families about a loved one’s death. This study not only aims to support the students but also to ensure that families receive compassionate and respectful care during a very difficult time.
