ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a method called acu-TENS, which is a type of electrical stimulation similar to acupuncture, to help reduce pain and stress for women undergoing a procedure known as transvaginal ultrasound-guided oocyte retrieval (TUGOR). The goal is to see if using acu-TENS can cut the pain experienced during this procedure in half. The study will involve 144 women who are preparing for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and will randomly receive either the acu-TENS treatment or a sham (placebo) treatment during the procedure.
To participate in this trial, women must be undergoing IVF cycles and be willing to give informed consent. However, those with severe heart or breathing issues, smokers, or those who are not eligible for acu-TENS will not be included. Participants can expect to have their pain levels measured before and during the TUGOR procedure, along with assessments of their stress and satisfaction with the pain control provided. The study aims to provide important insights into how effective acu-TENS can be for managing pain during this specific medical procedure.
