ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special type of wound care called Non-powered Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) to see how well it helps heal abdominal surgical wounds. The researchers want to compare this new method with traditional wound care to find out which one works better for different types of wounds, including both new (acute) wounds and older (chronic) wounds. They plan to include 160 participants in the study, divided into two groups: one group will receive the NPWT treatment, while the other will continue with standard care.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should be at least 18 years old and have wounds that are either less than 4 weeks old (acute) or more than 4 weeks old (chronic), with a depth of less than 2 cm. However, individuals with certain health issues, such as unstable vital signs or severe infections, won't be able to participate. Throughout the study, participants will be monitored for how quickly their wounds heal, their pain levels, and how their overall quality of life is affected. This research aims to provide valuable insights into the benefits and costs of using NPWT for wound healing. If you're considering participation, it could be a chance to help improve treatment for wounds while receiving care in the process.
