ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition known as long COVID, which can cause ongoing symptoms like shortness of breath (dyspnea) and fatigue even after recovering from COVID-19. The researchers want to understand if certain activity in the lungs, measured using a special imaging technique called PET/CT, is different in people still experiencing these symptoms compared to those who have fully recovered. By studying 60 adults—half of whom have long COVID symptoms and half who have recovered—the team hopes to learn more about the causes of long COVID and how to diagnose it better.
To participate, individuals need to have experienced ongoing shortness of breath or fatigue for more than three months after a confirmed COVID-19 infection. However, those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have issues with anxiety in confined spaces won’t be eligible. Participants can expect to spend a day at the study site undergoing various tests, including questionnaires, lung function assessments, and the PET/CT scan. This research is important as it aims to provide insights that could lead to better treatment and understanding of long COVID.
