ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the infections that can occur after a surgery called esophagectomy, which is performed to treat esophageal cancer. Infections are a common problem after this type of surgery and can lead to complications like pneumonia, longer hospital stays, and reduced quality of life for patients. The researchers aim to understand how often these infections happen, what types of infections are most common, and what factors might increase the risk of getting an infection after surgery. They also want to learn about the germs causing these infections and how effective different treatments are.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have had an esophagectomy for cancer between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2024. You should also be scheduled to stay in intensive care after your surgery for monitoring. This research is important because it could help identify ways to reduce the risk of infections, ultimately improving recovery and health outcomes for future patients. Please note that the trial is not yet recruiting participants.
