ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring an exercise program designed specifically for Deaf seniors aged 60 and older. The goal is to help improve their balance and overall fitness. The program lasts for 8 weeks and includes classes that meet twice a week at Gallaudet University, where everything is communicated in American Sign Language (ASL). Participants will also have homework in the form of handouts and videos to help them practice at home. Throughout the trial, researchers will look at how confident participants feel about their balance, how strong their legs are, and how well they can walk and stand.
To join the study, participants need to be fluent in ASL, live independently in the community, and be able to walk on their own for at least 20 feet. However, individuals who are blind, have dementia, or have certain neurological conditions cannot participate. This trial is a great opportunity for Deaf seniors to improve their physical abilities and connect with others in a supportive environment.
