ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how certain genetic factors may affect how well people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) respond to specific dietary changes. The researchers want to find out if certain genetic markers, called single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), can help predict whether patients will benefit from a combined diet that includes both a low FODMAP diet (which limits certain types of carbohydrates that can cause digestive issues) and a Mediterranean diet (rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats).

To participate in this study, you must be between the ages of 65 and 74, meet specific criteria for IBS, and be willing to commit to the study for its duration. Unfortunately, if you have other serious health conditions that require special nutrition, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you won't be able to join. If you are eligible and decide to participate, you can expect to provide informed consent and follow the dietary guidelines set by the researchers while being monitored for your IBS symptoms throughout the study.
