ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how virtual reality (VR) can help reduce pain and anxiety for adults with burn injuries during dressing changes. Participants are divided into two groups: one group will receive standard medical care along with an immersive VR experience that transports them to engaging virtual environments, while the other group will receive the same standard care but will watch a nature video on a tablet instead. The study aims to measure how much pain and anxiety the patients feel during the procedure and to see if the VR experience makes a difference compared to the non-VR distraction.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults aged 18 to 65 with partial-thickness burns who are scheduled for routine dressing changes and can give consent. They should also report some level of pain (4 out of 10 or more) during dressing changes. However, those with certain conditions, like serious motion sickness or visual impairments that make it hard to use VR, will not be able to participate. If you join this trial, you can expect to receive either the VR experience or the nature video, and researchers will monitor your pain, anxiety, and overall satisfaction throughout the process. This study is important because it aims to provide clearer insights into how VR can aid in pain management for burn care, addressing gaps found in earlier research.
