ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different anesthesia methods can affect inflammation in patients undergoing bariatric surgery, which is a procedure for weight loss. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of three types of anesthesia: one that does not use opioids (pain medications), one that uses opioids given through an IV, and one that uses inhaled opioids. Researchers will measure certain substances in the blood that are related to inflammation, as well as monitor heart rate variability, which helps indicate how well the body is managing stress.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be between 18 and 65 years old, scheduled for bariatric surgery, and have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher. It's important to note that individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain health issues may not qualify. If you join this trial, you can expect to help researchers learn more about how different anesthesia options may lead to less inflammation and a smoother recovery after surgery. This could ultimately improve outcomes for future patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
