ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a dietary supplement made from capsinoids, which are found in sweet peppers and chillies, can help activate brown adipose tissue (BAT) in obese adolescents. BAT is a special type of fat that helps burn energy and produce heat, which could be beneficial for weight management. Researchers believe that by combining capsinoid supplements with a healthy diet, they can increase the activity of BAT and potentially help these young participants lose weight.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between the ages of 11 and 18, have a certain level of obesity, and not have lost more than 5% of their weight in the last three months. The study is open to all genders. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the capsinoid supplement or a placebo (a non-active pill) for comparison. It’s important for families to know that the study is currently recruiting participants, and everyone involved will be informed about the study’s purpose and procedures before agreeing to participate.
