ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a short educational video can help patients better understand thyroid surgery, which is often needed for thyroid cancer or other thyroid issues. In the study, some patients will receive the usual information from their doctor, while others will also watch a video that clearly explains what to expect during the surgery. The goal is to see if the video makes patients feel more confident about their surgery, reduces their anxiety, and helps them remember important details about the procedure.

To participate in the trial, you must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and eligible for thyroid surgery, such as a thyroidectomy (removal of the thyroid), lobectomy (removal of part of the thyroid), or isthmusectomy (removal of the connecting part of the thyroid). However, if you have had thyroid surgery before or have already consented to surgery, you won't be able to join. If you take part, you'll fill out surveys before surgery, right after, and three months later to share your thoughts and feelings about the video and the surgery process. Overall, this study aims to improve patient understanding and satisfaction with thyroid surgery.
