ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "NOICE vs. Nothing," is exploring how listening to special 3D sounds, known as spatial audio, may affect people's ability to tolerate heat pain. Researchers at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, part of Stanford University, will conduct the study with healthy volunteers. The trial aims to see if these sounds can help people feel less pain and anxiety when they experience discomfort from heat.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old, speak English, and have normal hearing. However, if you take certain heart medications, pain medications, or have hearing loss, you won't be eligible. Once the study starts, participants will have the chance to experience different sound environments and share their pain thresholds. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research that could help improve pain management in the future!
