ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how effective virtual reality can be as a learning tool for helping children manage their chronic headaches, including migraines and tension-type headaches. The researchers want to see if using virtual reality can help kids learn relaxation techniques, like deep breathing, and improve their confidence in managing pain. The goal is to reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches right after the program and two months later. They will compare this approach with a similar program that doesn't use virtual reality, as well as a control group that only receives educational information about headaches.
To participate in the trial, children must be between the ages of 2 and 18 and have a history of headaches for at least six months or be diagnosed with migraines or chronic tension-type headaches by a pediatric neurologist. However, children with epilepsy cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect to engage with virtual reality sessions designed to teach them relaxation skills, and they will have the opportunity to share their experiences and any changes in their headaches during the study. Overall, this trial aims not only to help reduce headaches but also to improve children’s quality of life and their ability to cope with pain.
