ClinConnect Summary
The RISCA trial is studying a condition called transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, which affects the heart and can be difficult to diagnose. Researchers want to find out how effective a specific imaging test, called bone scintigraphy, is at spotting this condition when patients had the test done for other health reasons. The study will look back at data from patients who showed signs of heart involvement during their imaging tests. If these signs are found, those patients will be invited to participate in further testing to confirm whether they have this heart condition.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults aged 18 and older who have had a bone scintigraphy scan that showed incidental cardiac uptake, meaning the test showed unexpected results in the heart. Patients who are under legal protection or who do not wish to allow their medical data to be used in this study will not be included. Although the study is not yet recruiting participants, it aims to provide important insights into diagnosing transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis more effectively.
