ClinConnect Summary

The "Remote Resilience" clinical trial is studying a new way to help prevent cervical cancer in women aged 25 to 64 living on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. The researchers are testing a mobile health (mHealth) program that includes a smartphone app for patients, a portal for healthcare providers, and a connection to the national cancer surveillance system. This program will be used alongside standard HPV (Human Papillomavirus) screening, which is a test to check for the virus that can lead to cervical cancer. The main goals of the trial are to find out if this new mHealth approach is acceptable and practical for the women in the study.

To participate, women must be between 25 and 64 years old, own an Android smartphone, and live on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. They should not have had a Pap test or cervical screening in the past year, and they cannot be pregnant. Participants in the study will receive HPV screening, and those in the intervention group will use the app to get notifications about their results and guidance for follow-up care. In contrast, the control group will receive notifications through standard communication methods. This trial aims to improve access to cervical cancer screenings and follow-up care for women who may not have had regular screenings in the past.
