ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different methods of giving anesthesia affect patients undergoing surgery for brain tumors. Specifically, it will compare two types of anesthesia delivery: one where the anesthetic is given manually and another where it is controlled by a machine. The trial aims to ensure that patients wake up quickly and clearly after surgery, which is important for checking their brain function and spotting any complications early on. Researchers will use a tool called processed EEG (pEEG) to monitor the depth of anesthesia during the procedure.
Adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for brain tumor surgery and can give consent may be eligible to participate. During the trial, participants will receive either the manual or machine-controlled anesthesia and will be asked to rate how sleepy they feel after waking up. The study will also follow up with participants to assess their awareness after surgery. This research is essential as it could help improve recovery times and overall care for patients undergoing brain surgery.
