ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help doctors understand how well patients recover after a gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, which is a procedure used to examine the digestive system. Researchers have created an artificial intelligence (AI) model that listens to voice recordings from patients as they recover. This AI has shown to be quite accurate, correctly assessing recovery status over 84% of the time. To make this tool even better, the team plans to gather more voice recordings and eventually create a mobile app for easier use in hospitals.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old, speak Cantonese, and be scheduled for an outpatient GI endoscopy at a specific hospital in Hong Kong. However, those who cannot give consent or communicate verbally will not be eligible. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to contribute to the development of a helpful tool that could improve recovery monitoring for future patients. Overall, the researchers believe that nurses will welcome this AI technology into their practice.
