ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how virtual reality experiences featuring nature can improve the quality of life for nursing home residents with dementia. Many residents face feelings of isolation and a decline in mental well-being, so the researchers are testing if these virtual nature sessions can help. Participants in the study will be divided into two groups: one group will enjoy 10-minute nature videos twice a week for 12 weeks, while the other group will continue with their usual activities and medications without the virtual sessions. The goal is to see if the nature experiences make a positive difference in their overall health and happiness.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be nursing home residents diagnosed with dementia and able to communicate in Norwegian. They should also have normal or corrected vision. The researchers will enroll 60 residents from various nursing homes, and everyone involved will be carefully informed about the study's benefits and risks. Throughout the trial, the team will assess participants' quality of life and mental health at different points to understand how virtual nature may help improve their daily lives.
