ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of pain relief, specifically nerve blocks, can help elderly patients recover better after hip fracture surgeries. The research aims to find out if giving a nerve block injection before surgery, along with a catheter (a small tube) for pain relief after surgery, can reduce confusion (known as delirium), shorten the time spent in the hospital, and improve overall surgical and anesthesia results.
To participate in this study, you need to be 65 years or older and scheduled for surgery due to a hip fracture. Unfortunately, those who don’t speak English, are younger than 65, or are having surgery for a hip issue that isn’t a fracture won’t be eligible. If you choose to take part, you can expect to receive specialized pain management care and help researchers understand how this approach can improve recovery for patients like you. This study is not currently recruiting participants, but it’s a step towards better outcomes for elderly patients undergoing hip surgery.
