Cerebral Oximetry Nirs Neonate Ventilated Kidney Injury

ClinConnect Summary

The SafeBoosC-IIIv clinical trial is studying whether a special monitoring technique called cerebral oximetry can help improve kidney health in newborns who are on a ventilator. This method helps doctors keep the right balance of blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which is important because low blood pressure can increase the risk of kidney injury in these vulnerable babies. By stabilizing blood pressure and oxygen levels, the hope is to reduce the chances of kidney problems.

To be eligible for this trial, newborns need to be over 28 weeks of gestation and require invasive ventilation. Unfortunately, babies with major physical abnormalities cannot participate. If eligible, participants will be closely monitored as doctors implement the SafeBoosC treatment guidelines to see if it positively impacts their kidney health. This trial is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into improving care for newborns with respiratory challenges.
