ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the PTEye device, which helps surgeons locate the parathyroid glands during thyroid surgery. Sometimes, when doctors remove an enlarged thyroid, they accidentally take out the parathyroid glands too. This can lead to health problems like low calcium levels and other complications, resulting in longer hospital stays and extra treatments. The goal of the trial is to see if using the PTEye device can reduce these accidental removals, making surgery safer for patients.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and undergoing a total thyroidectomy (removal of the entire thyroid) or a thyroid lobectomy (removal of part of the thyroid). It’s important that your surgery is performed by a doctor who is approved for this study. Those who are under 18, pregnant, or having other specific types of neck surgeries won’t be eligible. The trial is still in the planning stages and hasn’t started recruiting participants yet. If you qualify and choose to participate, you’ll help researchers learn more about improving thyroid surgery outcomes for everyone.
