ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) therapy on cognitive function, balance, and quality of life in older adults who have mild cognitive impairment. The research will involve 150 participants from Prince Mutib Hospital, who will be divided into three groups: one group will receive WBV therapy, another group will get a placebo (a non-vibrating treatment), and the last group will receive standard care. The study will last for 12 weeks, with evaluations done at the start, after the 12 weeks, and again 6 months later.
To participate, individuals must be 60 years or older and have mild cognitive impairment, which is determined by a specific scoring test. They should be able to stand on their own or with minimal help and have no serious health issues that would prevent them from safely taking part in the therapy. Participants will attend sessions three times a week for 25 minutes each, involving gentle vibrations to potentially improve their cognitive abilities, balance, and overall quality of life. It's important to note that the study is not yet recruiting participants, but those who meet the eligibility criteria may benefit from this innovative approach to managing cognitive health.
