ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how effective smoking cessation education can be for patients with severe mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression. Many people with these conditions smoke at much higher rates than the general population, which can lead to more health problems and higher healthcare costs. The goal of this study is to provide education to help these patients quit smoking, and to see how well this approach works. The research is being conducted at a community mental health center and aims to fill a gap in current knowledge about smoking cessation interventions for this specific group.

To participate in the study, individuals must be over 18, registered with the community mental health center, and in a stable phase of their mental health treatment (meaning they are not experiencing active symptoms). They should also be smoking at least one cigarette a day and be willing to engage in communication and collaboration. Participants can expect to receive support and education on quitting smoking, contributing to a better understanding of how to help those with mental health issues lead healthier lives.
