Chronic Kidney Disease Metabolic Acidosis Plado Plant Dominant Low Protein Diet Nutrition Education

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether a special diet called the PLADO diet, which is mostly made up of plants and has low protein, can help reduce a condition called metabolic acidosis in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Metabolic acidosis is a problem that can make CKD worse, so finding effective ways to manage it is important. The trial will compare the PLADO diet to the regular diet commonly recommended for CKD patients to see which one works better and to check if the PLADO diet is safe and affordable.

To participate in the trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and diagnosed with stages 3 to 5 of CKD, among other health criteria. Participants will receive monthly nutrition education sessions about either the PLADO diet or the standard CKD diet for six months, along with monthly clinic visits for checkups and tests. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and it’s a great opportunity to contribute to research that could help improve dietary options for people with kidney disease.
