ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two methods of pain relief for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a common surgery to remove the gallbladder due to gallstones. The trial aims to compare the effectiveness of two types of nerve blocks—Transversus Abdominis Plane Block (TAP) and Modified Thoracoabdominal Nerve Block (M-TAPA)—to see which one provides better pain control after the surgery. Both of these nerve blocks help reduce pain and the need for opioids, which can cause unwanted side effects like nausea and constipation.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 and 65 years old, in good health (ASA physical status I-III), and have a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30. Those who have serious health issues or are pregnant, among other exclusions, will not be able to participate. If you join the trial, you will receive one of the nerve blocks for pain management, and if you choose not to have the nerve block, standard pain relief methods will be used. This study is important because it seeks to find the best way to manage pain after surgery, helping patients recover more comfortably and quickly.
