ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Improving Engagement in HIV and Cancer Care in Zimbabwe," is focused on helping people who have both cancer and HIV stay engaged in their HIV care while they are undergoing cancer treatment. Many patients face challenges because HIV and cancer treatments are often provided at different locations, making it hard to keep up with both. The goal of this study is to identify these challenges and create better support systems at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe, to help patients manage their HIV care alongside their cancer treatment.
To participate in the trial, you need to be at least 18 years old, have a new cancer diagnosis, and be receiving treatment at Parirenyatwa Hospital while also being HIV-positive. If you join the study, you will first be observed to understand the difficulties you face in accessing HIV care. After that, new strategies will be developed and put into place to support you better. Later, another group of patients will be observed to see if these new strategies help them manage their HIV care more effectively during their cancer treatment. This study is important because it aims to improve the health and well-being of individuals who are dealing with both conditions.
