ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how drinking alcohol affects our bodies during extremely hot weather, especially for younger and older adults. Researchers want to understand if consuming alcohol changes how we feel and how our bodies respond to heat. This is important because even though health guidelines suggest avoiding alcohol in the heat due to dehydration risks, many people still drink alcohol during hot summer months. The study aims to learn more about the effects of alcohol on our body's ability to manage heat and stay hydrated.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be at least 19 years old and able to give informed consent. However, those with certain health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, or a history of alcohol dependence, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, cannot join. Participants will be asked to drink alcohol under controlled conditions that mimic high temperatures and report on their experiences. This research could provide valuable insights into how alcohol impacts us during heat waves, which is becoming increasingly relevant as climate change leads to more extreme heat events.
