ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how patients and their parents feel about using EEG monitoring during general anaesthesia for children. EEG, or electroencephalography, is a technique that measures brain activity and can help doctors personalize anaesthesia care. While this technology is becoming more available, especially for children, it’s not yet standard practice, and some parents may have questions or concerns about its use and the potential extra costs involved. The study will gather opinions through surveys given to parents of children aged 1 to 16 and to patients aged 12 to 16 who are scheduled for elective surgeries at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
If you are a parent of a child in this age range or are a patient yourself, you may be eligible to participate in the survey. The survey will be conducted before and after the anaesthesia, and it is completely voluntary. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences regarding EEG monitoring, helping healthcare providers understand how to better support families during anaesthesia care. Please note that parents and patients coming for emergency surgeries will not be included in this study.
