ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether giving clear fluids to children right after surgery is safe and helps them recover better. Specifically, it involves children aged 1 to 8 years who are having planned, outpatient surgeries that don’t involve their stomach or intestines. The study will compare two groups of children: one group will receive fluids one hour after waking up from anesthesia, and the other group will wait for two hours. The researchers want to see if drinking fluids sooner leads to more vomiting after surgery, or if it's something that kids can handle without any problems.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 1 and 8 years old, healthy enough for surgery, and expected to go home the same day. They should not have any serious health issues that affect their stomach or require special medical care afterward. Parents or guardians will need to give their permission for their child to join. Families can expect to be part of a study that aims to improve the recovery experience for kids after surgery, helping ensure that they can safely drink fluids sooner.
