ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is comparing two types of devices used to help manage a patient’s airway during surgery, specifically the I-gel and Protector supraglottic airway devices. The goal is to see how easily anesthesiology residents can learn to use these devices when placing them in adult patients. This research is important because it may help improve the safety and effectiveness of airway management during surgeries.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults over 18 years old and classified as ASA I-II, which means they are generally healthy or have mild medical issues. They should be undergoing procedures while lying on their back or in a specific position called lithotomy. However, those with certain conditions like tumors in the throat, a history of difficult intubation, or limited mouth opening would not be able to participate. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to have their airway managed using one of the two devices being studied, helping researchers learn which device is easier for new anesthesiology residents to use.
