ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new electronic system that monitors breathing sounds during sedation for gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, such as colonoscopies and ERCPs (a type of scan for the bile ducts). The goal is to see if this system can help improve the safety and quality of sedation by providing more accurate information about a patient's breathing. Traditional methods of measuring breathing can sometimes be unreliable during these procedures, leading to potential risks like breathing problems. By comparing this new system with standard monitoring methods in 120 participants, researchers hope to find out which approach leads to better outcomes and faster recovery.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should be adults who are scheduled for a routine colonoscopy or ERCP and need deep sedation. However, pregnant women, patients with sleep apnea, or those who are severely obese (with a BMI over 40) cannot participate. If you join the trial, you will be randomly assigned to either the group using the new breathing sound monitoring system or the group using traditional monitoring methods. This study aims to make gastrointestinal endoscopy safer and more effective for everyone.
