ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Ergonomic Challenges for Surgeons; The Problem and Solutions," is focused on understanding the physical strain that surgeons experience while performing gastrointestinal surgeries. The study aims to identify specific body positions that may lead to discomfort or injury by using special sensors and video recordings to track how surgeons move during different types of surgeries—open, laparoscopic, and robotic. By analyzing this data, the researchers hope to find better ways to reduce strain on surgeons and improve their working conditions.
Surgeons who perform gastrointestinal surgeries and agree to participate will wear devices that monitor their movements while they operate. They will also complete questionnaires about any pain they experience before and after the surgery. To be eligible, surgeons must not have any serious existing injuries that limit their ability to work, and both the surgeons and their patients must provide consent to be part of the study. This research could lead to important advancements in surgical ergonomics, making the operating room safer and more comfortable for surgeons in the future.
