ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new Virtual Reality (VR) program designed to help psychiatric nurses improve their skills in caring for patients with schizophrenia who experience auditory hallucinations, which are sounds or voices that aren’t real. Since many people with schizophrenia continue to experience these hallucinations even with medication, it's important for nurses to be well-equipped to support them. The study will involve developing and testing this VR program across four psychiatric hospitals, focusing on enhancing nurses' confidence and ability to manage these challenging situations.
To participate, nurses need to have a nursing certificate and at least three months of experience working in a psychiatric unit. They must be willing to use smartphones and 3D glasses to engage with the VR content. The trial aims to include about 200 psychiatric nurses, who will be randomly assigned to either use the new VR program or continue with their usual training. Throughout the study, researchers will assess how the training affects nurses' confidence, knowledge, and care performance related to auditory hallucinations. This trial represents a significant step in improving the quality of care for patients with schizophrenia.
