ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the food and protein intake of elderly patients in the hospital affects their muscle health and overall outcomes. Researchers want to understand how what older adults eat during their hospital stay can influence their muscle strength, ability to move around, and even how long they stay in the hospital. They will also check if a good diet while hospitalized helps reduce the chances of needing to return to the hospital or facing serious health issues after they go home.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be 65 years or older and have been hospitalized for less than 48 hours. Unfortunately, those with certain conditions like cancer in the last five years, severe confusion, or specific neurological diseases can’t take part. If eligible, participants will have their food intake monitored during their stay and will be followed up for a few months after discharge to see how they are doing. This study aims to help improve care for elderly patients by ensuring they receive the nutrition they need while in the hospital.
