ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new program called the Hopeful and Healthy Living (HHL) intervention, designed to help adults over 50 who have serious mental illnesses. The main aim is to see if this program can help participants feel more socially connected and encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyles, such as better sleep, physical activity, and improved eating habits. Participants will either join the HHL program, which includes social skills training and strategies to manage their thoughts and feelings, or continue with their usual treatment. Researchers will measure changes in how supported and connected they feel, their overall mental health, cognitive abilities (like memory and thinking skills), and healthy behaviors over the course of a year.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 50 years old, have a diagnosis of a serious mental illness, and be a member of a specific community program in Boston. Those with dementia or certain other neurological disorders cannot participate. If you join the study, you will complete assessments at the start and then again at 4, 8, and 12 months to track your progress. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research that could help improve the lives of older adults with serious mental health challenges.
