ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how caffeine affects young adults' ability to understand speech in noisy environments. Researchers believe that caffeine, a common stimulant found in coffee, may help improve this skill, which involves both hearing and thinking processes. The study will include 60 participants aged 18 to 30 who do not have hearing loss, a history of neurological or psychological issues, and who do not smoke or take specific medications that can affect hearing.
Participants will be randomly assigned to either drink caffeinated coffee or decaffeinated coffee. After 30 minutes, they will take a test that measures how well they can understand speech in noise. Additionally, they'll keep a diary of their caffeine intake for a week and fill out a questionnaire about their caffeine use. This research aims to better understand the connection between caffeine and speech comprehension in challenging listening situations. If you meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in participating, you could help provide valuable insights into this area of study!
