ClinConnect Summary
The Vascular Access Registry (VARegistry) is a study aimed at improving how doctors access blood vessels during certain heart procedures. This research will take place at the Cardiology Clinic of the University General Hospital of Patras and will include patients over the age of 18 who need a percutaneous cardiac procedure, which is a way of treating heart issues without major surgery. There are no specific exclusions, meaning almost anyone who meets the age and procedure criteria can participate.
Participants in this trial can expect their blood vessel access to be done using methods that their doctor feels comfortable with, which may include feeling for the vessel or using ultrasound imaging to guide the process. If the first attempt to access a vessel is unsuccessful, doctors will simply try a different location. Throughout their hospital stay, participants will be monitored, and a follow-up ultrasound will be done a month later to check on their recovery. The main goal of the study is to see how successful the initial access attempts are, along with examining other factors such as how long the procedures take and any complications that might arise.
