ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different types of exercises for children with a condition called scapular dyskinesis. This condition means that the shoulder blade moves or is positioned incorrectly when the arm is used. The goal of the study is to see how effective these exercises are in helping children improve their shoulder movement and overall function. The trial will take place over 10 months at a school and will include 22 children aged 9 to 12 years who are involved in sports that require overhead movements, such as swimming or basketball.
To be eligible for the study, children must participate in sports for at least one hour, three times a week, and show specific signs of scapular dyskinesis through various tests. However, children with certain conditions, like serious muscle or joint problems, scoliosis, or past shoulder injuries, will not be included. Participants can expect to engage in targeted exercise programs designed to strengthen their shoulder muscles and improve their posture, which could help them in their sports activities. This trial is currently recruiting, so if you think your child might qualify, it could be a great opportunity to help improve their shoulder health!
