ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific type of training, called task-oriented training, can help improve hand and eye coordination and upper limb function in children with Down Syndrome. Children with Down Syndrome often have trouble coordinating their movements with what they see, which can make everyday tasks like writing, eating, and grooming more challenging. The researchers want to see if targeted exercises that focus on improving these skills can make a positive difference compared to a general physiotherapy approach.
To participate in this study, children must be diagnosed with Down Syndrome and be between the ages of 5 and 12. They should also have difficulties with visual-motor skills. However, children with severe intellectual disabilities or those who have already participated in similar programs, as well as those with uncontrolled medical or psychological conditions, cannot join. If eligible, children will be placed in one of two groups: one group will receive the specialized training three times a week, while the other will receive general physiotherapy and game-based activities. The study will last for about 10 months, and researchers will check the children's progress after eight weeks of training. This trial aims to provide valuable insights into how we can better support children with Down Syndrome in developing important skills.
