ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is designed to learn more about how certain medications might lead to a type of bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, specifically non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). The researchers want to understand the relationship between this type of bleeding and the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), blood thinners known as vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) and direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), as well as antiplatelet therapy. They will also compare how severe the bleeding is based on which medications are being used and identify potential risk factors that could contribute to this condition.

To participate in the trial, you need to be an adult, 18 years or older, and show signs of UGIB, such as vomiting blood or having black, tarry stools. Unfortunately, individuals with variceal bleeding, those under 18, pregnant women, or anyone who chooses not to participate will not be included. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo assessments related to your condition while contributing to important research that could improve understanding and treatment of UGIB in patients who use these medications.
