Digital Access For Older Adults

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called the Virtual Senior Center, is looking at how different ways of providing support can help older adults who feel lonely or isolated. The study involves 650 adults in St. Louis who are at least 65 years old and currently receive meals delivered to their homes. Participants will be placed into one of three groups: one group will receive home-delivered meals along with a special tablet device called a GrandPad to help them connect with others; the second group will just get home-delivered meals without the GrandPad; and the third group will receive meals in person at a senior center, also without the GrandPad. This trial will last for 12 months and will help researchers understand how these different approaches affect health and quality of life.

If you or a loved one is 65 or older and currently gets home-delivered meals from Aging Ahead, you may be eligible to participate in this study. Since the trial is not yet recruiting, there’s still time to learn more about it. Participants can expect to take part in follow-up assessments over the year to see how the different meal options and the use of the GrandPad impact their daily life and overall well-being. This study aims to find better ways to support older adults and improve their quality of life.
