ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how different methods can reduce pain and improve satisfaction when placing a small tube called a peripheral intravenous catheter (PIC) in patients. Specifically, the study will look at using a device called a shotblocker and applying manual pressure during the procedure. A total of 81 patients who are admitted to the urology clinic will participate, and they will be divided into three groups: one will receive the shotblocker, another will have manual pressure applied, and the last group will be the control group without any special intervention.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be between 18 and 65 years old, able to communicate well, and willing to volunteer for the trial. They should not have any ongoing pain issues, recent treatments on the vein where the catheter will go, or conditions that affect their ability to feel pain. During the trial, participants can expect to have their pain and satisfaction levels assessed after the catheter placement to see which method works best. It's important to note that the study is not yet recruiting participants, so interested individuals will need to wait for that process to begin.
