ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), where there is increased pressure in the brain, leading to symptoms like headaches and vision problems. The trial focuses on understanding how this condition affects the brain's waste clearance system, known as the glymphatic system, and how a procedure called venous sinus stenting (VSS) might help. By using advanced MRI techniques, researchers aim to see how changes in the brain's structure and function before and after VSS relate to patients' symptoms and overall health.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be adults aged 18 to 75 who have IIH that hasn't responded to other treatments and are planning to undergo venous sinus stenting. Unfortunately, individuals with certain medical histories, such as past head trauma or specific pain conditions, will not be able to participate. Those who join the study can expect to undergo a series of noninvasive brain imaging tests to help gather important information about their condition. Ultimately, the goal is to improve understanding and treatment of IIH, which could lead to better care for patients dealing with this challenging condition.
