ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how to improve a common surgery for prostate cancer called radical prostatectomy. One of the main goals is to help prevent complications that can happen after the surgery, like urinary incontinence (trouble controlling urine) and erectile dysfunction (difficulty getting or maintaining an erection). The researchers want to use a special method during the surgery to monitor and protect the nerves that control these functions, which could lead to better outcomes for patients.
To participate in this study, men aged 65 to 74 who are being treated for prostate cancer at the hospital can join if they fully understand the study and are willing to share their medical history. However, those who do not actually have prostate cancer, have certain medical devices like pacemakers, or have serious neurological or mental health issues may not be eligible. Participants can expect to have their nerves closely monitored during the surgery, which is hoped to reduce the risk of complications afterward. It's important for prospective participants to know that this trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help many men who face challenges after prostate cancer surgery.
