ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of abdominal massage on patients who are staying in the intensive care unit (ICU). The goal is to see if abdominal massage can help improve bowel movement, reduce the risk of infections (like sepsis), and potentially shorten the time patients spend in the ICU. Researchers will compare two groups of patients: one group will receive abdominal massage during their routine care, while the other group will not. They will look at things like survival rates, how long patients are in the ICU, and the amount of antibiotics used.
To be eligible for this study, patients need to be between 18 and 80 years old, have been in the ICU for more than three days, and have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30. They should not be able to move around much on their own and must not have any conditions that would make abdominal massage unsafe. Patients who participate can expect to receive abdominal massage daily for five days, and their health outcomes will be monitored closely. This study is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to gather valuable information on how a simple intervention like abdominal massage can benefit critically ill patients.
