ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the link between congenital cataracts, which are cloudy areas in the lens of the eye that can cause vision problems in children, and dental abnormalities, like unusual tooth shapes or missing teeth. The researchers want to understand if there is a connection between these two conditions, especially since some patients with congenital cataracts also have dental issues. They suspect that not only specific syndromes but also other forms of congenital cataracts might be related to dental problems.
To participate in this study, individuals should be between the ages of 2 and 25 and have certain dental conditions, such as extra teeth, missing teeth, or specific tooth shapes. They should also have congenital cataracts or similar eye issues in themselves or their family members. However, if they have had dental treatments that could change the way their teeth look, they won’t be eligible. Participants will help researchers learn more about how these two conditions might be connected, which could lead to better understanding and treatment options in the future.
