ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well self-swab testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) works for patients who are receiving medication abortion care through telemedicine. The study aims to make STI testing more accessible for those who may have difficulty getting tested otherwise. Specifically, it will explore how acceptable and easy it is for patients to use self-collected STI tests, how many patients choose to use this service compared to those who go to a clinic, and what the rates of positive STI results are for both groups. The trial will also track how quickly patients who test positive can receive treatment.
To participate in this study, you need to be a female patient at the Queen Medical Center Options Center clinic seeking a telemedicine medication abortion, be at least 14 years old, and be able to read and speak English. Participants will collect their own samples at home for testing gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomonas, then send them to a lab using prepaid postage. After sending in their samples, participants will complete a survey about their experience. If anyone tests positive for an STI, they will be quickly referred for treatment. It’s important to note that this trial is not yet recruiting participants.
