ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how certain characteristics of patients before they undergo bariatric (weight loss) surgery can predict how their quality of life will improve after the surgery. Specifically, researchers want to see if there’s a connection between improvements in quality of life and factors like anxiety, depression, eating habits, and body weight. The study will follow patients enrolled in the GEROM73 program for a total of 30 months, which includes six months of preparation before surgery and two years of support afterward.
To be eligible for this trial, patients need to be part of the GEROM73 surgical program and start their hospital care. Unfortunately, individuals dealing with severe psychiatric issues, cognitive disorders, or those who have difficulty understanding French won't be able to participate. Throughout the program, patients will fill out questionnaires about their feelings and eating behaviors and will have their weight and body measurements tracked. This trial aims to help improve the support provided to future bariatric surgery patients by better understanding their needs before and after surgery.
