ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a medication called dexamethasone can help reduce swelling (edema) and difficulty opening the mouth (trismus) after surgery to remove lower impacted wisdom teeth (third molars). The researchers want to see if giving dexamethasone as an injection right after the surgery works better than standard care in helping patients recover.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults over 18 years old who have impacted lower third molars that require surgical removal. They cannot have any significant health issues or allergies that would prevent them from using dexamethasone. Participants in the trial will receive either the dexamethasone injection or a placebo (a substance with no active medication) after their surgery and will return to the clinic for follow-up visits three times in the week following their extraction. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and it welcomes individuals of any gender.
